CUAir

CUAir, Cornell University Unmanned Air Systems, is an interdisciplinary project combining aspects of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Our goal is to design, build, and test an unmanned autonomous aircraft capable of autonomous takeoff/landing, waypoint navigation and surveillance/reconnaissance. Some research topics include airframe design, propulsion systems, wireless communication, image processing and target recognition.

    The CUAir team had a test flight on October 23rd, 2011. The purpose was to test upgrades made to the previous year's plane. This older plane will aid in testing other systems before flying in the new plane for this year's competition. The tests were successful and we will begin to prepare for developmental testing of autonomous flight.…

  • 2011 AUVSI Competition

    CUAir had an excellent showing at the 2011 Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) competition sponsored by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). We placed 3rd for the Journal Paper and 4th for the Oral Presentation out of 24 teams. Our hard work really showed this year and we are looking forward to improving next year.
